Duo Eclettico make their debut at The MC Showroom with a program exclusively highlighting original works for saxophone and piano by Melbournian composers.

Duo Eclettico has consistently received critical acclaim, and has been the recipient of major awards for their creative programming and virtuosic performances. Here, they present a program of works showcasing the superb originality and power of a selection of Australian composers writing for the unique combination of saxophone and piano. Katy Abbott’s haunting UndercurrenT is an exploration of hidden emotional depths beneath the surface of our daily appearances. Written for Duo Eclettico, Linda Kouvaras’ major 5-movement suite Night Pieces: Reflections After COVID-19 is a powerful response to the pandemic. John Carmichael’s vibrant Latin American Dances are a joyous and virtuosic celebration of the human spirit, using a variety of South American dance styles. This program also celebrates two young Australian composers, Gulliver Poole and Sam Williams, with their highly inventive works written for Duo Eclettico, and the world-premiere of Williams’ Insurgence.
