A story set in a world where suicide has been made illegal once again, except this time, everyone has five emergency contacts that accept responsibility for your well-being and face criminal charges if you do take your life. All monitored by the ever-present Neighbourhood Watch who live on every street and monitor all citizens for red flags. For a time, connection and community was better than ever, but like all things, people eventually forgot the real reason for their regular check-ins with loved ones.
The story finds Heath’s family and friends gathering for a surprise birthday party for him, only to find he has taken his life. Drowning in grief, confusion, anger, and the fear of prison time, the gang come up with a plan so crazy to make this go away, it might just work. Dodging The Neighbourhood Watch and Heath’s persistent new friend, the gang quickly go on a journey of self-discovery, honest confessions on their own mental health and flaws, and a realisation that the man they all loved was crying out for help right in front of them. But will their realisations come soon enough to stop them repeating the same mistakes again?
Written and produced by Kieran Gould-Dowen and directed by Alistair Ward, Impending Storm Productions final story is one of connection, compassion, community, and a love letter to both those that find themselves sitting in the dark feeling hopeless and those that sit alongside them in silence, just wanting to make sure they don't feel alone.
*Content warning: Coarse language expected throughout. Recommended for audience aged 12+.
