An original play by Emily Farrell, it is a new comedy-drama with psychological thriller undertones, exploring the intricate complexities of hierarchy within the contemporary family home.
This is a story about the good, the bad and the ugly side of what goes on behind closed doors. The play explores the unhealthy power dynamic between parents and children as both attempt to mourn the loss of a loved one.
Using realism to tap into the script’s grit, The Charade is set in real time over the course of one evening with little to no breaks between scenes. We hope to truly captivate the audience as they sit, like a fly on the wall, observing and fully consumed in this evening that everyone can relate to in some regard.
The Charade, directed by Jaz Balmer, is Five by Five Theatre's second theatrical production.
