PROVOCARÉ 2018: A PUBLIC READING OF AN UNPRODUCED SCREENPLAY ABOUT THE DEATH OF WALT DISNEY

  • The MC Showroom 48 Clifton Street Prahran, VIC, 3181 Australia (map)

A Public Reading of An Unproduced Screenplay about The Death of Walt Disney is an adrenaline-charged odyssey; a supersonic portrait of the man who forever changed the American Dream; and an unforgettable fantasia. New York writer Lucas Hnath’s hit play premieres in Australia care of enfant terribles MKA Theatre.

Aided by a pack of cigarettes, a litre of vodka, three actors, and countless dead lemmings Walt Disney reads you a screenplay he wrote. About himself. And his death.

This most wonderful spectacle features sibling performance duo Tobias & Kerith Manderson-Galvin, the experimental score of jazz luminary Jules Pascoe (JazzParty, JAALA), and a magical castle.*

*The castle may not be magical.

“A DEVASTATING PORTRAIT OF A MAN FOR WHOM MAKE-BELIEVE WAS MORE
REAL THAN REALITY ITSELF.”

NEW YORK POST

“ENJOYABLY WEIRD AND HERMETIC… NOTHING THAT EVER CAME OUT OF THE
MAGIC KINGDOM WAS EVER THIS ANIMATED.”

TIMEOUT

“DARKLY COMIC.”

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“BLACKLY COMIC… WALT WOULD BE DOING CARTOONISH GYRATIONS IN HIS
GRAVE IF HE WERE TO SEE HOW THOROUGHLY MR. HNATH HAS SUBVERTED THE
POPULAR IMAGE OF DISNEY.”

NY TIMES

“A BLOOD-PUMPING AND HILARIOUS EVENING OF THEATER”

THEATERMANIA

“EXPLOSIVE.”
