KASSANDRA - 2022 MELBOURNE FRINGE

A stand up tragedy in broken English!

Using the mythical figure of ancient Greek tragedy’s Cassandra, playwright Sergio Blanco creates a one woman tour-de-force. Kassandra, wearing red patent-leather jacket, reveals her Odyssey. Sex, war, and power, winners and losers. In her off-kilter immigrant English, she talks about our own search for meaning and hope. Tears and laughter, sarcasm and humour, Euripides and Bugs Bunny. The distance between myth and reality, performer and audience, space and text collapses.

*Content Warning: Contains strobe lights and sustained bright lights, mild coarse language, sudden loud noises, some infrequent/low pressure audience interaction, potentially triggering content or themes, including drug and sexual references, war.
