’Tinder Tales’ is a show about Abby, a woman who is so stuck in her own head that she can’t simply date someone. Her Insecurities, Doubts and other psychological crutches have manifested themselves into characters in her mind, her Mother is constantly preaching at her from the heavens as the voice of God, and when it all gets too much Dr. Over-Analyse comes out to play.

Our story follows Abby as she navigates her way through Tinder and toys with the idea of dating around, all the while trying to downplay her obsession with love. As Abby finally meets a guy who she thinks is the one, we watch their blossoming relationship unfold and the effect it has on her self esteem, but we also watch the affect her self esteem has on her relationship. Abby can’t help but overthink and over-analyse every little match, direct message and dick pic, and is stuck in a tug of war between her romantic and cynical side.

In a world where true love is just a swipe away and happiness is just another commodity, can we believe in love at first swipe?

Tinder Tales is presented in one act, with a small cast, heavily stylised movement and melodramatic fantasies. Blending elements of musical theatre and cabaret, the show aims to satirise both romantic comedies and online dating, while succumbing to all their worst tropes.
